Adjustible Mode Beam Lasers

Featuring new dual-beam AMB laser with the highest single-mode core power.

IPG introduces a new single-mode Adjustable Mode Beam (AMB) laser source capable of achieving 3 kW of output power in the core beam. An industry first, this increase in single-mode power offers unprecedented speed and productivity improvements for battery welding with spatter-free welding speeds up to 2X faster than possible with lower core powers.

Adjustable Mode Beam (AMB) lasers offer the broadest range of beam profile tunability for superior welding quality at high speeds for applications including e-mobility and automotive. AMB virtually eliminates welding spatter which drastically reduces the time and expense of rework, maximizing uptime and overall quality.

EV Battery

EV-Cube Busbar Welding System

The EV-Cube Busbar Welding Module is a fully-automated workstation for welding tabs and busbars in cylindrical cell modules. Configurable for either manual or conveyor-fed part loading, the system is suitable for process development, prototype and pre-production quantity welding where the standard equipment configuration can accelerate low-quantity production capability.

  • Maximum Part Size: 1,200 x 600 x 300 mm, 450 kg
  • Cylindrical batteries – top side or both side welding (optional flipping station)
  • IPG tooling services available

In addition to optimized laser, beam delivery and IPG process programming, the available Real-time Weld depth Measurement option provides users 100% verification of penetration depth into the Li-ion cell casing

Welding LaserCell

The Battery Welding Lasercell is a turnkey automated system configurable for a wide range of mid-power welding tasks, including Cylindrical, Prismatic and Pouch tab and busbar welding, lid and case sealing and motor hairpin welding.

  • Work envelope: From 165 x 300 x 600 mm up to 1000 mm Dia, 1500 mm long
  • Configurable with any IPG laser and processing head to suit the application
  • Multiple part handling options to easily interface with adjacent equipment
